Hobart, Australia

It is March 16, 2019 and we are in Hobart, Australia; it is the capital and most populous city of the Australian island state of Tasmania. With a population of approximately 225,000 (over 40% of Tasmania's population), it is the least populated Australian state capital city. It is Australia's second oldest capital city.

Hobart has a mild temperate oceanic climate. The highest temperature recorded was 107.2 degrees F on January 4, 2013 and the lowest was 27.0 degrees F on June 25, 1972 and July 11, 1981. However, during the summer it has the most hours of daylight of any Australian city, with 15.3 hours on the summer solstice. Average summertime temperatures are 72 degrees F, average wintertime temperatures are 40.8 degrees F and the average annual rainfall is 22.4 inches.
