Tauranga, New Zealand

It is March 5, 2019 and we arrived in Tauranga, New Zealand located in the Bay of Plenty region of the North Island of New Zealand. It has a population of 141,600. Average summertime temperatures are 75 degrees F, average wintertime temperatures are 43 degrees F and the average annual rainfall is 46.5 inches.

Lanee and I took a motor coach tour with four other people and enjoyed finding out more about Tauranga, New Zealand.

We started our tour at Whakarewarewa, the living Maori Thermal Village where 25 families of Tuhourangi Ngati Wahiao people live among the steam vents, boiling water, mud pits and geysers. They cook their food using the steam vents and boiling water.

Kiwi Production

The region around Tauranga, New Zealand produces 70 percent of the Kiwi exported by the country. Our tour group stopped by a kiwi farm and enjoyed some fresh fruit and Kiwi and Hokey-Pokey (honeycomb crumbles and caramel in vanilla) ice cream.
