It is March 3, 2019 and we arrived in Wellington the capital of New Zealand since 1865. It has a population of 418,500 people. It is located at the south-western tip of the North Island, between Cook Strait and the Remutaka Range. Wellington is the world's southernmost capital of a sovereign state. Wellington features a temperate maritime climate, and is the world's windiest city by average wind speed.
Average summertime temperatures are 86 degrees F, average wintertime temperatures are 43 degrees F and the average annual rainfall is 49 inches.
