Grenada
Lanee and I travelled to Grenada by cruise ship on February 23, 2018. Grenada is volcanic in origin and hilly; resulting in curvy roads with many sharp turns. We took a tour bus around the 12 by 21 mile island. Our tour guide does this three times a week during the busy season as well as owns and operates a resturant called "Two Cultures Resturant". The ocean was purging itself of sea weed and it made the water and beach look and smell bad (this happens occassionally and there was a lot of sea weed). We really enjoyed the tour and learned alot about the island.
The coordinates for the island is 12o07' N 61o40' W.
Demographics
Information from the 2016 census indicated that the population of the island is 107,317 people.
Religions in Grenada include Roman Catholic 44.6%, Protestant 43.5%, Other 6.2%, Jehovah's Witness 1.1%, Rastafarian 1.1%, and None 3.6%
Ethnic groups--89.4% African, 8.2% Mixed, 1.6% Indian and 0.9% other
Common languages--English is the country's official language, but the main spoken language is either of two creole languages (Grenadian Creole English and Grenadian Creole French) which reflects the African, European, and native Indian heritage of the nation. The creoles contain elements from a variety of African languages; Grenadian Creole, however, is also influenced by French. The indigenous languages were Ineri and Karina (Carib).
