Clover Stem Borer, Languria mozardi (Latr.)
This is potentially an economic insect on clover and alfalfa. The infestation has been spotted and little economic damage has occurred. The larva feed in the pith causing swollen or cracked areas to appear on the stem. The adult, which is a beetle, frequently is found on the plants. It is about 1/3 inch long, reddish with dark blue wing covers.
