Nuttall's Milkvetch is an erect plant which on average grows 6-12 inches tall. The flowers of the Nuttall's Milkvetch may be white, pink, lavender or light blue and are 1/4-1/2 inches long. The fruit of this plant is a curved, slender pod about 1 inch long. The leaves can reach 3 inches in length are are pinnately compound. Nuttall's Milkvetch is toxic to cattle, sheep, and goats; symptoms include loss of weight, incoordination of hind legs and paralysis. This plant can be found in the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau regions and blooms from February to May.
