| False Rhodesgrass is found in heavy alluvial soils near streams, plains, canyons and rocky hills of the Edwards Plateau and, though it is a rare occurrence, in the South Texas Plains. This grass can reach a height of three feet. The seed head has six to twenty branches, each approximately 6 inches long. The seed head is dense and more feathery than Multi-flowered False Rhodesgrass and is about two to four inches long. The seeds have awns that are about 3/8 inch long. The leaf blade is 7 1/2 inches in length and 1/16 to 1/8 inch wide. False Rhodesgrass blooms from May to September. |
