| Golden Dalea is an upright perennial standing about 12-22 inches in height with a woody taproot. Individual flowers are about 3/8 to 1/2 inch long and form a circle around a spike. The yellow flowers bloom a few at a time. The spike is silky-gray and covered with soft hairs. The leaves are fairly small at about 3/4 to two inches long with about five leaflets. Having sparse foliage may help this plant withstand drought. Golden Dalea blooms from April to June and can be found in both the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains areas. The leaves and flowers are eaten by white-tailed deer. |
