Rocket Salad has been introduced from the Mediterranean region of Europe. It can be found in various soil types of the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains. It is an annual herb growing from 11 to 23 inches in height. The lower leaves are lobed, while the upper leaves have toothed edges. The flower is yellowish to white in color with brown or violet veins. The fruit is long (1/2 inch) and has a sword-like beak. Rocket Salad blooms year around. Also known as Arugula, it can be used in salads as a mustard green.
