Scarlet Gaura can be found in sandy soils of the Edwards Plateau. It can reach a height of six to fifteen inches. The leaves are 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches long and 9/16 inch wide. The flower is about 1/2 inch wide with four white to pink petals spreading upward and eight red anthers on white filaments pointing downward. It is found blooming from April to July. Due to the intense whiteness of the flower and because it opens mainly in the evenings, moths are the main pollinators of Scarlet Gaura.
