| Indian Blanket is a bushy annual that is one to two feet in height. It has eight to ten ray flowers that are red towards the center of the plant and tipped with yellow. It has many disk flowers that are yellow before opening and then turn purplish-red or brownish. The leaves are about 3/4 to 3 1/4 inches long and clasp to the stems basally. Indian blanket can be found in sandy or clayey soils of the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains. Its blooming period is from April to June. The leaves are eaten by white-tailed deer. |
