| Littlehead Gumweed is a bushy plant that reaches up to three feet tall. It is present in the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau, growing in calcareous and sandy soils. The upper leaves have a series of small teeth on the margin. Small glands on the plant tend to make it sticky to the touch. The flower heads are comprised of numerous yellow ray and disk flowers and are about 1/2 inch in diameter. Littlehead Gumweed blooms between April and August. The name gumweed is derived from early people chewing on it like gum. | |
