Curly Mesquite is a stoloniferous sodgrass reaching three to ten inches in height. It is most common on limestone soils in open plains and brushlands of the South Texas Plains and the Edwards Plateau. It can flower from the late spring to fall but the forage quality is poor for wildlife and fair for livestock. It is drought resistant and can quickly re-establish after droughts.
