| Common Goldenweed is an erect, bushy shrub growing from 12 to 35 inches tall. It is common on dry calcareous soils of the South Texas Plains. It's resinous leaves are narrow, deeply lobed and alternate on the stem. The yellow flower heads consist of only disk flowers. It is commonly mistaken for Broom Snakeweed, however Snakeweed flower heads consist of both ray and disk flowers. It blooms from September to November. Common Goldenweed is usually not palatable to livestock and is an indicator of over grazing. |
