Henbit grows 6-18 inches in height with six to ten reddish-purple flowers standing erect in whorled clusters and averaging 1/2-5/8 inches long. Leaves of the Henbit are roundish, thick and veined measuring 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches in length. Henbit can be found in various soil types throughout the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau. Bees and other insects frequent this plant for nectar when it blooms from February through May.
