The Southern Pepperweed is an erect plant reaching twenty inches in height. It grows in sandy or loamy soils of the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau. The stem is hairy and can reach a height of almost two feet. The toothed leaves vary in size as they go up the stem, with basal leaves reaching a length of 3 1/2 inches and upper leaves reaching 3/4 inch. The small white flowers bloom from February to May.
