Gordon Bladderpod can grow from 2 to 12 inches in height. It has bright yellow flowers that bloom between March and May. Each flower has four petals that are about 1/3 inch long. The leaves are lance-shaped and covered with small silvery-gray hairs. The hollow seedpods are approximately 1/8 inch in diameter. Gordon bladderpod can be poisonous to horses by causing swelling in the lower body, high temperature, depression, swollen legs and founder. The problems usually occur when a wet winter and spring follows a drought and horses are exposed to the flower and seedpods. Good pasture management will help to control this plant. |
