Littleleaf Leadtree is found on limstone hills of the western portion of the Edwards Plateau. In an undisturbed state the plant can reach fifteen feet in height but it also resprouts when disturbed. This plant is rare in the Edwards Plateau becuase it is very palatable and is grazed by domestic livestock and white-tailed deer. The yellow flowers and large leaflets make littleleaf leadtreee an attractive ornamental plant.
