Rough Nama is an upright and sometimes sprawling annual that reaches 4-20 inches in height. The pink to purple flowers are bell shaped and grow between 5/16 and 5/8 inches in diameter. The alternate leaves are covered in rough hairs and are between 1/2 and 1 1/4 inches long. Rough Nama blooms from March through November and can be found in the sandy and limestone soils of the South Texas Plains and the Edwards Plateau regions. The leaves are occasionally eaten by white-tailed deer and cattle.
