Scarlet Musk-Flower is an upright to sprawling annual reaching a length of 6 to 18 inches. It can be found growing in sandy, loamy or calcareous soils of the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains. The leaves are 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches long and have sticky hairs and smooth to wavy margins. The pink to dark red flowers are trumpet-shaped and 1 to 1 1/8 inches long. They have a strong musky odor, hence the name musk-flower. Scarlet Musk-Flower blooms from April to November.
