Clammyweed can be found in various soils of the Edwards Plateau and South Texas Plains. It grows to a height of 24 inches and has leaves that reach nine inches in length. The flowers are white with long pink to purple stamens. The fruits are 2 1/2 inches long and slightly hairy. Clammyweed blooms from May to October. The name refers to the sticky or clammy residue left on the hands after handling the plant.
