Charlock can be found in various types of disturbed soils in the Edwards Plateau. It is a hairy annual herb that stands one to three feet in height. The lower leaves are one to six inches long and have several lobes. The upper leaves are narrow and toothed. The flower consists of 4 yellow petals and measures approximately 5/8 inch in diameter. The flowers form clusters on the upper portion of a spike while the fruit grows at the base of the spike. Charlock blooms from March to May.
