Johnsongrass is an invading, rhizomous, bunchgrass. The leaves have a distinctive white midrib. It ranges from twenty to sixty inches in height. Johnsongrass grows in fields and sanitary landfills of the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau. Flowering period lasts as long as conditions allow. It has fair forage value for wildlife and good forage value for livestock but can be toxic when the plant is stressed.
