Flame-Flower is found growing in dry, poor soils in the South Texas Plains and Edwards Plateau. It grows to be 12 inches in height. It has fleshy leaves that are between 3/4 and 1 3/4 inches long. The flowers are orange or orange red with five petals and are about an inch in diameter. Flame-Flower blooms between May and September.
