Seedling.  Key characteristics: cotyledons are smooth and spatula-shaped.

Rosette.  Key characteristics: leaf margins are wavy and an ocrea is present.   Leaves begin to show purple coloration.

Mature seedheads are rust-colored.

Seed.  Seed are ovate triangular in shape with sharp ridges, approximately 2.0 mm in length and glossy reddish-brown.
