Wild Buckwheat
Vegetative plants. Key characteristics: heart-shaped leaves, gradually tapering to form a point at the tip, and hairless giving the plant a glossy texture. Wild buckwheat is similar in appearance to morningglories, except it has ocreas at the base of the leaf petioles and morningglories do not.
Plants take on a vining habit.
Flower. Key characteristics: greenish-white in color arising from leaf axils.
Seed. Seed are distinctly ridged, glossy, have a sharp terminal and are approximately 4.0 to 5.0 mm long.
Life cycle: summer annual.
