Woolly Croton

Growth habit.  Key characteristics: erect growth habit, orange-brown stems.   Both leaves and stems are covered with a dense pubescence giving the plant an off-color appearance.

  

Seed.  Seed are nearly round, yellowish-orange with a visible seam and some contain brown mottling.  Diameter is approximately 4.0 to 5.0 mm

Life cycle: summer annual.

Toxic Plant: all parts of the plant are poisonous.  Cattle are poisoned by the croton oil contained in the plants.  It is toxic only if large quantities are consumed.  Vomiting, diarrhea and nervousness are the primary symptoms.
