Alfalfa Flowers

All or nearly all the flowers in a particular alfalfa variety may be yellow.  The yellow flowers trait is an indication that Medicago falcata was a parent in the history of the variety.  Most varieties of alfalfa with a high proportion of yellow flowers are adapted to extremely cold areas.
