Three-Cornered Alfalfa Hopper

Damage symptoms of the three-cornered alfalfa hopper result from girdling of stems.  Adults and nymphs girdle stems by making feeding punctures around them, usually within a few inches of the soil surface.  Feeding punctures disrupt vascular flow through stems.
