Early Thinning

Oklahoma Common - Early Thinning

The strip in the middle is typical of the early thinning of Oklahoma Common alfalfa compared to the six other varieties in this on-farm demonstration.  In many parts of Oklahoma thinning such as this begins during the second year of production and by the end of 5 years very few plants remain in the old varieties while thick stands are present in the improved varieties.
