Quadrat Sampler A relatively long quadrat can be helpful in determining stand density. This one is 18"X6" which is 3/4 of a square foot. Twenty stems are counted in the quadrat is equivalent to 27 stems per square foot. A quadrat such as this can be used during the dormant season to help determine the are covered by crowns. Approximately 40% of the area inside the quadrat is occupied by alfalfa crowns. This is a "full stand". |
