Dodder on Alfalfa  

Dodder (a parasitic plant with no chlorophyll) stems wrap around alfalfa stems, penetrate the stem with haustoria and live on the nutrients in the alfalfa plant.  Severe infestations of dodder reduce the vigor of alfalfa plants or other hosts.
