Dodder on Alfalfa  

Dodder stems wrap around alfalfa stems and feeds on the nutrients in the alfalfa plant because dodder has no chlorophyll.  Notice the small flowers capable of producing thousands of seeds.  One crop of dodder seed left in a field will contaminate the field for many years.
