Dodder on Alfalfa

Dodder is a parasitic plant that attaches itself to alfalfa and many other plants.  Dodder stems wrap around alfalfa stems, send haustoria into stems and feeds on the nutrients in the alfalfa plant because dodder has no chlorophyll.  An infestation as severe as shown will drastically reduce forage yield and contaminate seed harvested from this field.
