Phosphorus Deficient

Phosphorus Applied

Phosphorus Fertilizer

The photo on the right is a plot of alfalfa growing on phosphorus deficient soil.   The photo on the right (a few feet away) shows a plot where phosphorus was applied.

Most of the stems where no fertilizer was applied are about 13 inches tall whereas the stems where fertilizer was applied are about 22 inches tall.  No other clear symptoms of phosphorus deficiency were apparent in the field.

* Both pictures were taken  in Washita County, OK on April 30, 1998, at first harvest.
