Phosphorus Fertilizer
Applied
This photo is a plot of alfalfa growing where
phosphorus was applied to phosphorus-deficient soil. A few feet away where
phosphorus was not applied plants were much shorter.
Most of the stems where no fertilizer was applied are about 13 inches tall; whereas, the
stems where fertilizer was applied are about 22 inches tall. No other clear symptoms of
phosphorus deficiency were apparent in the field.
