Applications of Phosphorus
Fertilizer
The plot on the right is alfalfa growing on phosphorus
deficient soil. The plot on the left (a few feet away) shows where phosphorus was applied.
Most of the stems where no fertilizer was applied are about 13 inches tall; whereas, the
stems where fertilizer was applied are about 22 inches tall. No other clear symptoms of
phosphorus deficiency were apparent in the field.
