Curly Dock (Rumex crispus)

Close-up of seed head as seen in June through July.  Flowers without petals in dense clusters, becoming reddish-brown at maturity.  Seeds brown, shiny, triangular, sharp-edged, surrounded with three heart-shaped bracts with smooth edges.
