Dodder in Alfalfa (Cuscuta suaveolens)  

Dodder stems wrap around alfalfa stems, penetrate the stem with haustoria (finger-like structures in center of photo), and live on the nutrients in the alfalfa plant.  Notice the small flowers (upper right) capable of producing thousands of seeds.
