Crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis)

Crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis)

Crabgrass, a warm-season annual weed, first germinates as early as April and continues to germinate throughout the summer.  It can be a problem in spring-planted alfalfa and is often common in old stands where it is normally a symptom of alfalfa that is not highly competitive because of low phosphorus, potassium, or pH.
