Flooded Alfalfa

How long will alfalfa remain alive under water? How much sediment does it take to kill alfalfa? These are two questions that are impossible to answer in absolute terms. Just because alfalfa has been 5 to 6 feet under water for a few days and has 3 or 4 inches of silt on top of it, don't assume it is dead. It may come out just fine. In fact an optimist may say that is a good irrigation and thank the neighbors upstream for the fertilizer.
