LATE-SEASON SPRAYS NOT NEEDED FOR |
|
If seed production is on the recommended schedule for the southern plains region, seed set should be completed by early August, and the threat of damage by Lygus bugs should be greatly reduced. Lygus bugs tend not to feed on seeds once they have begun to mature, and populations of 10-15 per sweep can be tolerated. Sprays applied within 2-3 weeks of harvest do little to prevent losses in the seed crop and usually are not worth their cost.
