Cheat (Bromus secalinus)

In early boot stage which usually occurs from late April through May in Oklahoma.  This is a good time to harvest fall planted alfalfa infested with cheat.  Forage quality of cheat forage is still fairly good at this time, cheat plants are usually out-growing and shading the alfalfa plants, and there is very little regrowth of cheat when clipped at this growth stage.
