Downy Brome (Bromus tectorum)

Close-up of the spikelets in the drooping panicle seed head.  Spikelets narrow, straight-awned, with tapering bases and with slender pedicels, 4- to 7- flowered, 1st glume 1-nerved about 1/4 inch long, 2nd glume 3-nerved, wider and about 1/2 inch long.  Lemma about 1/2 inch long, pubescent, with awn at least as long as lemma, with some awns twice as long.
