COMMON NAME: | Greenflower Pepperweed and Veiny Pepperweed |
SCIENTIFIC NAME: | Lepidium densiflorus and L. oblongum, respectively. |
TYPE: | Winter Annual Cool-season Broadleaf Weed |
DESCRIPTION | |
Germination: | From September though March. |
Reproduction: | By seed in May-August. |
Stems: | Much branched. |
Leaves: | Greenflower leaves lanceolate to linear, coarsely toothed, without petioles, stems without hairs. Veiny leaves with spreading hairs, lower leaves often finely divided. |
Flowers/ Inflorescence: |
Racemes, small greenish, without petals, 4 sepals. |
Fruit: | Nearly circular, flat, notched at top, 2 seeds per fruit. |
FOUND: |
Greenflower statewide and veiny in northwest counties, in newly planted fall and in thinning stands.. |
CONTROL: |
Medium competitors in new stands and low in established. Control with fall application of BUTYRAC 200 in fall planted, and January-February application of SINBAR or VELPAR will control in thinning stands. |
