Tumble Pigweed

COMMON NAME: Tumble Pigweed
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Amaranthus albus L.
TYPE: Summer Annual Broadleaf
DESCRIPTION                                                           
    Germination: April-September.
    Reproduction: By seed, July-October.
    Stems: Whitish, erect or decumbent, highly branched, usually no hair or fuzz.
    Leaves: Simple ovate to linear, 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches long, no hair or fuzz.
Flower/
Inflorescence:
In short-dense axillary clusters, rigid bracts, twice as long as flowers.
    Fruit: Seed black, shiny, lens-shaped, with wrinkles when dry, seed 1/16 inch in diameter.

FOUND:

Central and western counties.

CONTROL:

Small plants can be controlled with BUTYRAC 200 and PURSUIT in newly planted spring stands and in thinning stands.
