DESCRIPTION | |
Germination: | May-June |
Reproduction: | By seed July-September |
Stems: | Erect to bending, branched lower nodes, no hair. |
Leaves: | No ligule, no hair or fuzz. |
Flowers/ Inflorescence: |
1-flowered spikelet in panicle, often with appressed branches. |
Fruit: | Seed units with lemma and palea attached, with or with out short awn on lemma. |
FOUND: |
Throughout the state. Found in new spring planted stands in eastern counties, not often in established stands. |
CONTROL: |
Use preplant application of BALAN or TREFLAN, or spray emerged seedlings with POAST PLUS or SELECT. Control usually not recommended in thinning stands because usually not profitable. |
