Kochia (Kochia scoparia)

Kochia has smooth, green stems with many axillary stems at top of plant.  It is from a few inches to over 6 feet high.  Kochia may be found in cropland, dry pastures, and rangeland. Problems with Kochia occur in spring planted alfalfa in the northwestern part of the state and often it is found in thinning older stands of alfalfa.  Sometimes known as fireweed.
