Kochia

Kochia (Kochia scoparia)

Early vegetative stage as seen May through June.  Plants have fair forage value and are readily grazed by livestock at this stage.  However, under drought stressed conditions, it sometimes contains high nutritive levels and can become toxic.  Annual one to six feet tall, stems much branched and often red-tinged.  Flowering and seed production may occur from July to October.
