COMMON NAME: Cutleaf Eveningprimrose
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Oenothera laciniata Hill
TYPE: Biennial Cool-season Broadleaf
DESCRIPTION                                                                                       
    Germination: September-November.
    Reproduction: Blooming May-July.
    Stems: Hairy, branching at base, reclining.
Leaves:
Long, narrow, coarsely lobed, arranged alternately on stem.
Flower/
Inflorescence:
Flowers in leaf axils, 5-yellow petals, on long stem with seed forming below the petals.
Fruit:
Long stem-like, four-ribbed capsule with many small seeds.

FOUND:

Commonly found in new fall-planted stands in central and eastern counties. 

CONTROL:

 

Small plants control in fall planted alfalfa with BUTYRAC 200 applied in fall or spring.  January-February applied SINBAR and VELPAR for control in thinning stands.
